In 1980, in the dregging carried out at Mazarrón Port, there appeared worked silex from the inferior or middle Paleolithic.
There appeared worked rolled slabs, knives, an atypical plane, perforators, scrapers, and chippings and openings extracted from small nodules. This industry was of Acheulean aspect (Inferior Paleolithic), although it could belong to a Mousterian time (Middle Paleolithic) with Acheulean tradition industries (between 95,000 and 32,000 years ago).
In the Aljibe Cove, very close to La Peñica and separated from this by the lighthouse rock mass. A quarry has also been located, from which were probably extracted the nodules on which this industry was based.
